IAAEU at the 7th Annual Meeting of the Berlin Network for Research on Well-Being 2026

The IAAEU participated in the 7th Annual Meeting of the Berlin Network for Research on Well-Being, held at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg on 26 and 27 February 2026. The meeting brought together researchers working on various aspects of well-being to present recent research and exchange ideas.

Two researchers from IAAEU contributed to the conference. Prof. Dr. Laszlo Goerke presented the paper “Councils of Contentment: Works Councils and Income Perceptions”, co-authored with Sven Hartmann and Yue Huang. The study examines how works councils are correlated with employees’ perceptions of their income and highlights the role of workplace institutions in shaping subjective economic well-being. In addition, Dr. Yue Huang presented the project “She Manages the Money – He Spends It: Income Management and the Spousal Expenditure Gap in Japan”, co-authored with Björn Becker. The paper investigates how household income management is associated with expenditure patterns between spouses in Japan and provides new insights into intra-household financial decision-making.

We are grateful for the opportunity to present our research and to engage in fruitful discussions with colleagues at the meeting. We also thank the organisers for hosting a stimulating and well-organised conference.
