The 18th Workshop on Labour Economics (WLE) took place at the IAAEU on March 26 and 27, 2026.
The workshop was organised in cooperation with the Chair of Personnel Economics at the University of Trier.
We welcomed researchers from 13 countries. Their contributions enabled us to compile an exciting and wide-ranging program with around 25 presentations.
As in the previous years, there was a session on “Counterfactual Impact Evaluation” organised jointly with the Competence Centre on Microeconomic Evaluation of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission.
We thank Fabio Berton, who was in charge of this part of the workshop.
The thematic highlight of the WLE was the presentation by Dr. Michel Serafinelli (King’s College London) on “Coal Phaseout and Jobs”, in which he explored the role of universities and colleges in managing structural breaks, using the United Kingdom as a case study.
The scientific part of the workshop was complemented by a tour of the historic cellars of the Bischöfliche Weingüter in Trier and a conference dinner.
The 18th Workshop on Labour Economics was a great success.
We thank all participants for their presentations and contributions.
We look forward to the 19th edition of the WLE in 2027.
